Music Lady - the person, is: Sammie Thompson - an original, unique talent
Sammie Thompson, Music Lady, is: an international musical performer, award-winning songwriter, newspaper writer, editor, photojournalist. Born into a musical family, her father was a self- described "weekend musician," her mother an impressive vocal talent
whose recordings received local radio airplay.
Sammie's first recording - singing “Playmate” - was made at home when she was in kindergarten. About that same time, her father started her on piano, later adding ukulele and saxophone. She made her vocal debut as a band singer at age 13. After high school, she took up guitar and banjo, adding other instruments over the years.
Training at Patricia Stevens Career College led Sammie into the fields of modeling, acting, theater, public speaking, radio and television, musical performance, writing, songwriting, photojournalism, education, and independent films.
In 1973, she launched her career as a solo entertainer - pianist/vocalist/songwriter, performing throughout the U.S., in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
In 1996, she became a Certified Music Practitioner, began to play harp, and created a new therapeutic modality called Musical Massage. Hospice associates aware of the healing aspects of her bedside musical applications with patients began to refer to her as the “Music Lady” - this term became so popular, it became the name for her music ministry.
Educating the public in the beneficial use of music in health and healing has been an important aspect of Sammie’s musical mission. She lectures and presents informative, interactive and experiential workshops on this and numerous other topics at local, regional, national and international conferences.
Sammie continues to actively compose, play, perform and record beautiful music for listeners in all stages of health and beingness.
